A judge in Manila handling a case involving the missing sabungeros has recused herself following a request from the prosecution.
Based on the 24 Oras report on Tuesday, the court said the prosecution claimed the judge was showing partiality toward the accused. In response, the judge said the allegations were merely speculative and had no legal basis.
Despite this, the judge granted the prosecution’s request, emphasizing that it was clear the prosecution no longer had trust in the court’s impartiality.
In a related development, the Laguna Regional Trial Court Branch 29 approved the bail petition of three police officers accused in the case of the missing sabungeros in Laguna.
The court has given the prosecution 20 days to present its evidence, while the defense has 10 days to submit its comments.
