At the heart of Quezon City’s new Gateway Mall 2, an invitation-only crowd stepped quietly into a different kind of cinema. No popcorn-slick floors. No buzzing ticket queues. Just the hush of leather recliners, the low clink of glasses, and the savory scent of steakhouse fare. Wolfgang’s Premiere Lounge, the latest offering from Gateway Cineplex 18, welcomed its first guests to an evening that merged fine dining with blockbuster spectacle.
Quezon City cinema unveils a first-of-its-kind experience that pairs gourmet dining with high-end film technology
Attendees were welcomed into a private foyer that felt more like a hotel club than a movie theater lobby. Drinks in hand, they settled into La-Z-Boy recliners in one of two screening halls. On this night, Marvel’s “Thunderbolts” rolled onto the screen, its action made sharper and louder by the theater’s laser projection and Dolby Digital 7.1 surround sound.
Each seat came with a set meal, part of the lounge’s defining appeal. Curated dishes from Wolfgang’s Steakhouse were served in neatly wrapped boxes. Guests chose from roast beef sliders, burger sliders, or Reuben sandwiches, each paired with chips and bottled water. The wrappers rustled softly under the sound of explosions on screen.
“Wolfgang’s Premiere Lounge was designed to bring an entirely new level of indulgence to the cinema experience,” said Irene Jose, chief operating officer of Uniprom. “We’re taking the movie experience that you’ve come to expect here at Gateway Cineplex 18 and bringing it up a notch to deliver a new and exciting way to enjoy the biggest and latest blockbusters.”
The projection system delivered on that promise. The laser-powered visuals glowed with clarity. A Perlux screen enhanced the brightness without distorting color. The surround sound added depth to dialogue and action, allowing viewers to feel immersed in the story.
But it was the atmosphere that set it apart. The Wolfgang’s Premiere Lounge Bar served wine, cocktails, and soft drinks. Guests could choose to dine even without watching a film, a rare luxury in a cinema setting.
“With Wolfgang’s Premiere Lounge, we’re redefining what it means to go to the movies. This is more than just a film screening. It’s a fully immersive experience that blends world-class dining, luxury seating, and cutting-edge technology to create the ultimate entertainment destination,” Jose said.
Tickets are priced at ₱990. Each includes a premium seat and a meal from the Wolfgang’s Steakhouse menu. Cinema 1 has 56 seats. Cinema 2 has 64. It is not a theater built for large crowds, but for those seeking comfort, privacy, and service.
“We invite movie lovers to step into a new era of cinema with Wolfgang’s Premiere Lounge. Whether it’s a night out, a special celebration, or simply indulging in the finest way to watch a film, this is an experience unlike any other. Come and see what makes it truly special,” Jose said.
Marvel’s latest chapter may have filled the screen with high-stakes conflict, but inside the lounge, the experience was quieter. Fine food, soft lighting, and the gentle recline of a well-cushioned seat reminded guests that moviegoing can be both indulgent and intimate.
