Authorities apprehended another alleged member of the Tiñga drug syndicate during an anti-criminality operation conducted on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, in Barangay Ususan, Taguig City.
The Taguig City Police identified the suspect as Juan Miguel Tan, also known as “Migue.”
Tan was arrested along N.P. Cruz Street after he was allegedly found in possession of a white disposable vape cartridge which was suspected to contain marijuana or cannabis oil.
According to police, the item was purchased for P4,500 and has since been submitted as evidence in the case against Tan.
The suspect is now facing a complaint for violating Section 11, Article II of Republic Act No. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Authorities said the Tiñga drug syndicate has been previously linked to multiple high-profile drug-related arrests in Taguig City, many of which involved members of the Tiñga family.
Taguig Police Chief Colonel Joey Goforth said Tan’s arrest was part of the police force’s ongoing efforts, in collaboration with barangay officials, to combat the spread of illegal drugs in local communities.
“The Taguig City Police is committed to maintaining peace and order through proactive law enforcement and community partnership,” Goforth said in a statement.
In June 2024, police also rearrested Joel Tiñga, a high-value member of the syndicate who had previously been sentenced to life imprisonment. Eight sachets of suspected illegal drugs worth approximately P360,400 were recovered during the operation.
In 2023, Bernardo Tiñga was apprehended with over P95,000 worth of suspected shabu and firearms, while in 2020, Patrick Ace Tiñga was arrested in a buy-bust operation that led to the seizure of over P20 million worth of suspected crystal meth.
Elisa “Ely” Tiñga was also sentenced to life imprisonment in February 2017, according to police records. — DVM, GMA Integrated News
