Steven Brielle S. David, an outstanding SM Scholar from Xavier University – Ateneo de Cagayan, has achieved a remarkable milestone after graduating Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Accountancy degree and securing the Top 8 spot in the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) Licensure Examination.
His achievement reflects years of perseverance, discipline, and determination, proving that hard work and faith can turn dreams into reality.
Before entering college, Steven originally planned to pursue a medical course and become a pediatrician. However, practical considerations and the encouragement of his parents led him to take Accountancy — a decision that would eventually shape his future.
Despite uncertainties at the beginning of his journey, Steven learned to embrace the challenges that came with the program. Looking back, he shared that all the struggles and sacrifices became worth it as he witnessed how far he had come from being uncertain about his future to achieving one of his biggest dreams.
A significant turning point in Steven’s journey was becoming an SM Scholar. Prior to receiving the scholarship, he had already experienced several scholarship rejections and constantly worried about the financial burden of pursuing higher education. As the eldest child in their family, he was deeply aware of the sacrifices his parents made to support his studies.
Receiving the scholarship became a source of motivation and reassurance for Steven. Beyond financial assistance, it gave him peace of mind and allowed him to focus on his academic responsibilities without the constant worry of school expenses.
“The scholarship was more than just financial assistance. It was an affirmation from God that I was on the right path,” Steven shared.
Throughout his academic journey, the SM Scholarship also inspired him to strive harder and pursue excellence with confidence and purpose. He credited the program for helping him stay motivated during the demanding years of Accountancy school and in preparation for the CPA Licensure Examination.
Now celebrating his success, Steven hopes his story will inspire fellow scholars and young Filipinos to continue pursuing their dreams despite challenges and uncertainties.
“My journey was far from easy. There were moments when I felt tired, afraid, and overwhelmed, but those experiences helped me grow stronger,” he said.
He also encouraged students to keep believing in themselves, trust the process, and continue moving forward no matter how difficult the journey may seem.
