Raymond draws massive crowd in final Cebu City rally

OVER 4,000 individuals attended the “Aksyon Na Ta” people’s campaign rally for Cebu City Mayor Raymond Alvin Garcia, marking a powerful show of support on the final day of the campaign period, Saturday, May 10, 2025.

The rally, held at the historic Plaza Independencia, was a sea of red and white, the mayor’s signature colors, as his supporters gathered to demonstrate their enthusiasm.

Mayor Garcia took the stage to introduce his entire slate, including those unable to attend. Candidates present included reelectionist Councilors Rey Gealon, Pastor Alcover, Renato Osmeña Jr., and Edgardo “Jaypee” Labella II, councilor candidates Jeson Guardo and Pie Abella and reelectionist North District Rep. Rachel “Cutie” del Mar.

Adding to the significance of the event, Garcia’s father, former mayor Alvin Garcia, joined him on stage.

Mandaue, Lapu-Lapu rallies

In Mandaue City, both political slates held their final shows of force on Friday, May 9. The “One Mandaue” slate organized a motorcade, “A Ride for Change,” attracting over 3,000 riders in support of mayoral candidate Jonkie Ouano and congressional reelectionist Emmarie “Lolypop” Ouano-Dizon. The “Team Mandaue” slate held its miting de avance, drawing an estimated 30,000 to 31,000 attendees.

Comelec 7 Director Francisco Pobe reminded all candidates that campaigning beyond the official period is strictly prohibited, with violations potentially leading to disqualification.

In Lapu-Lapu City, Team Deretso, led by mayoral candidate Paz Radaza, held a grand rally attracting 20,000 to 25,000 people. Team Kaabag, led by Lone District Rep. Cynthia “Cindi” King-Chan, canceled their rally due to heavy rain. Independent mayoral candidate Cristine Takasahi held her kick-off rally earlier in April. (JPS, CAV, DPC)
