THE Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) is now prepared for the opening of classes in private and public schools on Tuesday, August 29, 2023.
According to Police Lieutenant Colonel Janette Rafter, CCPO Chief Colonel Ireneo Dalogdog’s spokeswoman, they have already planned activities for the start of school year 2023–2024.
She said police assistance desks will be installed in schools during the first week of classes to assist the students.
One of their main concerns is the traffic jams around large school campuses, including the Abellana National High School on Osmeña Boulevard, where road construction for Bus Rapid Transit is ongoing.
Police Captain Mark Leanza, chief of the Abellana Police Station 2, stated that beat patrollers and other police officers who would be stationed in schools have already undergone field training.
The police will also assist the traffic enforcers handle the traffic flow when the need arises.
The Abella Police Station has jurisdiction over several schools.
To keep an eye on criminals, the police would also employ barangay tanods and other force multipliers.
The CCPO will also work with the teachers, especially those assigned to the night high school, addressing the safety of the kids who went home in the evening and are at risk of being victims of crime, in compliance with the directive of the Police Regional Office 7.
The police advised the parents to forbid their children from bringing valuables like cell phones in order to prevent theft or holdup.(AYB, TPT)
