Youth group urges young Pinoys to vote wisely

Advocacy groups over the weekend called on the voting public to choose wisely for the coming elections, and avoid candidates being linked to Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGOs) and those with a history of unethical and abusive behavior.

According to a report on Super Radyo dzBB, digital advocacy group Digital Pinoys said the public should not vote for candidates that receive support or are behind POGO activities in the country.

“We must never allow our ballots to be used to legitimize illegal and harmful interests. A vote for a POGO candidate is a vote for impunity and exploitation,” it said in a statement.

“We call on all Filipinos to choose leaders who are committed to the rule of law, transparent governance, and genuine public service,” it added.

To recall, President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., in his State of the Nation Address (SONA) in July 2024, ordered a ban on all POGOs by the end of 2024, citing the sector’s “grave abuse” and “disrespect” to the country’s system and laws.

In a separate dzBB report, youth advocacy group Aksyon Eleksyon 2025 also called on the public, especially the youth who the group said are heirs of the country’s future, to be critical of candidates, and stand firm on holding them accountable.

The group said voters should stay away from candidates who have a history of unethical, corrupt, and abusive behavior, as well as those part of political dynasties, and have been linked to the misuse of public funds.
