Lazada Philippines Invests P3 Billion in Mindanao Expansion

Lazada Philippines is committing over P3 billion to expedite e-commerce adoption in Mindanao, as part of its broader efforts to make online shopping more accessible and affordable nationwide. The company’s chief executive, Carlos Otermin Barrera, stated that the investment will be used for shipping subsidies, seller support, and infrastructure, with the goal of lowering delivery costs by over ₱40 per shipment and subsidizing promotions and vouchers to attract new users. As part of its three-pronged strategy, Lazada will also conduct aggressive online marketing and sampling campaigns to address Mindanao’s low e-commerce penetration rate.
