IS-linked fighter killed, another injured in Lanao del Norte clash

A member of the Dawlah Islamiya – Maute Group (DI-MG) was killed and another was captured during a clash with government troops in Kauswagan, Lanao del Norte, on Sunday, according to a police report. The suspects, monitored by police and military intelligence, were moving from Lanao del Sur to Kauswagan on a motorcycle. Upon noticing authorities, they fled toward the coastal area and fired at pursuing troops from the 1005th Mobile Force Company, Special Action Force Company, and Provincial Mobile Force. Government forces returned fire, killing one suspect on the spot, while the other surrendered. The slain suspect was identified as Alinor Ansano, a resident of Piagapo, Lanao del Sur, who faced murder and attempted murder charges. His injured companion, Junaid Dimapanda of Masiu, Lanao del Sur, will undergo investigation. Authorities recovered a caliber 9mm pistol from Ansano and a .45 pistol from Dimapanda. Brig. Gen. Rolindo Suguilon of PRO-10 emphasized their commitment to justice, while Col. Rolando Orengo highlighted inter-agency collaboration in counterterrorism efforts. Kauswagan Vice Mayor Rommel Arnado thanked security forces for neutralizing the DI-MG members.
