At least three armed men perpetrated a daring broad daylight robbery of a pawnshop in Davao City on Wednesday morning, February 26, 2025. Col. Hansel Marantan, Davao City Police Office (DCPO) director, confirmed the capture of one suspect and the launch of hot pursuit operations against several others involved in the robbery at Hannah’s Pawnshop and Jewelry along Ilustre Street in downtown Davao. Images circulating on social media showed three gunmen carrying out the robbery and escaping on a motorcycle. Marantan stated that the number of suspects could exceed four or five, as investigators were still reviewing CCTV footage. DCPO spokesperson Captain Hazel Caballero Tuazon noted that while three suspects have been confirmed, more individuals, including lookouts, may be involved. Police arrested one suspect, Jonny Bulawan, a resident of Albuera, Leyte, at the Bankerohan Public Market. Authorities recovered an M-16 rifle, a 9 mm pistol, bullets, a defective motorcycle, and jewelry valued at an estimated P40 million to P100 million. Marantan described the group as a “big, organized organization” and vowed to apprehend the remaining suspects. The DCPO urged the public to provide information about the suspects through hotline numbers 0998 598 7054, 0916 659 2576, and 082-227-5777. (Ian Carl Espinosa / MindaNews)
