Ex-Napolcom exec Leonardo submits counter-affidavit in murder complaint

Former National Police Commission (Napolcom) commissioner Edilberto Leonardo has submitted his counter-affidavit in the murder and frustrated murder complaint filed against him for the alleged killing of Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) board secretary Wesley Barayuga, his lawyer said Friday.

“Sinubmit namin ‘yung hard copy today. It was duly subscribed tapos we affirmed,” lawyer Andres Manuel said in an ambush interview at the Department of Justice.

(We submitted the hard copy today. It was duly subscribed and then we affirmed it.)

Manuel, however, declined to divulge the details of the counter-affidavit.

Leonardo, as well as former PCSO general Royina Garma, were tagged as masterminds behind the killing of Barayuga in 2019 during the hearings of the House Quad Committee.

Both denied the allegations against them.

According to Manuel, Garma was given time to submit her apostilled counter-affidavit. She was represented by her lawyer, Emerito Quilang. —LDF, GMA Integrated News
