With the help of the Global Positioning System (GPS), authorities tracked and arrested six men for several theft and robber cases in Quezon City and Jaen, Nueva Ecija.
According to Mark Salazar’s Monday report on “Saksi”, CCTV footage showed a man entering the office of a gasoline station in Katipunan Avenue, Quezon City on January 2.
The police said P70,000 was stolen from an improvised ATM.
They suspected an inside job judging by how the suspect knew where the money was kept.
The same group allegedly stole P300,000 from another gasoline station along Congressional Avenue.
While the Quezon City Police was pursuing the suspects, authorities in the town of Jaen alerted them about a convenience store robbery in which a vault was taken.
The vault contained a cellphone with GPS, which led to the arrest of the suspects at a house in Lagro, Quezon City.
Authorities said the suspects have a record of robbery cases in different areas in Metro Manila and Central Luzon. They are facing two robbery cases and theft charges.
A representative of a gasoline station confirmed the suspects’ identities.
Police are looking whether the group has accomplices.
Meanwhile, the owner of the house denied involvement in the crimes, but admitted one of the suspects is her son.
Once evidence has been processed, the suspect will undergo inquest proceedings in Jaen for robbery. — Mariel Celine Serquiña/RF, GMA Integrated News
