Five people, including an 11-month-old infant, were killed after a fire engulfed a boarding house on Sinalyasi Street in Barangay 8, Caloocan City before dawn on Sunday, Aug. 2, the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) said.

According to a GMA News report by Gabriel Gonzales, the BFP said the death toll had risen to five from the earlier reported four fatalities.

According to the BFP, the victims were trapped inside the rented house as the fire spread rapidly, preventing them from escaping.
