MALABON Mayor Jeannie Sandoval has vowed to further enhance the city’s delivery of health services to Malabueños after the Ospital ng Malabon (OsMal) received high ratings in two of the Department of Health’s (DOH) most comprehensive hospital evaluation programs.
The city-run Level 1 hospital achieved an 87.64 percent rating, equivalent to 4 Green Stars, in the Green Viability Assessment (GVA) conducted by the DOH Health Facility Development Bureau.
OsMal also garnered an impressive 94.625 percent “very satisfactory” rating during the Integrated Hospital Operations and Management Program (IHOMP) validation.
These accomplishments underscore the hospital’s continued transformation into a modern healthcare institution that not only delivers quality medical services but also champions environmentally responsible and resilient healthcare practices, the city said.
“The DOH recognitions for OsMal only prove that the city government prioritizes the health of every Malabueño. They show how essential it is for us that every citizen remains healthy, protected from illness, and that their needs are addressed promptly,” Sandoval said.
“Our constituents can count on us to further strengthen high-quality health programs and services for everyone,” she added.
City Administrator Alexander Rosete told The Manila Times on Sunday that the DOH recognition was the fruit of the collective efforts of the local government, the OsMal leadership and “every doctor, nurse, healthcare worker, and staff member who serve our constituents day in and day out.” “It shows that a local public hospital can achieve high standards of service quality while also advancing environmental protection and readiness for the challenges of climate change,” Rosete pointed out.
According to DOH, the Green Viability Assessment is a national diagnostic and monitoring system that measures how effectively hospitals integrate climate resilience and environmental sustainability into their operations.
With an overall score of 87.64 percent, OsMal secured the coveted 4 Green Stars — a distinction reserved for facilities demonstrating Good Practice in environmental stewardship, the DOH said.
Meanwhile, OsMal’s “very satisfactory” IHOMP rating highlights the hospital’s strong compliance with national standards on hospital governance, patient safety, infection prevention and control, quality healthcare delivery, and efficient resource management, it said.
