OVER 16,000 graduating students from public elementary and senior high schools in Valenzuela will receive financial assistance from the city government.
The distribution of the cash aid that began last Friday was for 16,619 graduating students—comprising 5,172 senior high school and 11,447 elementary pupils. Each received P1,500 in educational assistance, Mayor Weslie “Wes” Gatchalian said.
Gatchalian said the incentives were mandated under two ordinances that provide for the granting of financial assistance to every graduating senior high school (Grade 12) student in all public schools in the city.
The twin measures also grant incentives to the top five honor students of each graduating batch.
The top 1 honor student receives an additional P 1,500; the top 2 receives P1,000; and the top 3, 4, and 5 each receive P500.
In a message during the distribution of the educational grant, Gatchalian was all praises for the students.
“I am pleased and delighted with the achievement you have made here at ValNat (Valenzuela National High School). I wish you all the best as you enter college. Whatever university you choose, never forget that the core of being a ‘Valenzuelano’ is within you,” Gatchalian said.
“Wherever you are, hold your heads up high and take the pride of Valenzuela City with you,” he added.
Valenzuela, recognized as a livable and forward-thinking city in Metro Manila, places a strong emphasis on providing quality education for all, the mayor said.
Gatchalian said his administration will continue implementing programs under its award-winning Education 360 Degrees Investment Program, aimed at reducing the number of out-of-school youth and addressing educational gaps.
“These efforts reflect Valenzuela’s vision of a city where every child has the opportunity to learn, grow, and succeed,” he said.
