CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY: Elected officials in Misamis Oriental report to office effective Monday noon, June 30, 2025.
Newly elected Misamis Oriental Provincial Governor Juliette Uy reported to the provincial capitol office together with her team.
Uy’s team, composed of the provincial attorney, Chief of Staff, Provincial Administrator, and Special Assistant to the governor, proceeded to the provincial capitol to formally take charge of Misamis Oriental.
Uy won the hotly contested provincial governor post in the midterm election in May 2025 in an upset against the well-established reelectionist Gov. Peter Unabia.
Unabia lost, but his political party Lakas-CMD gained a majority of seats from Vice Governor to the provincial board members of Misamis Oriental.
Lawyer Karen Lagbas will also take over the Congressional seat after another upset, winning the congressional contest against incumbent Congressman Christian Unabia, son of Gov. Unabia, in Misamis Oriental’s first district. Lagbas, daughter of former Cong. Danilo Lagbas, finally succeeded after running for Congress three times since 2010. Lagbas stated she will continue the unfinished programs of her late father for Misamis Oriental.
