A CALL center agent met an untimely death after he was run over by a ref wing truck while heading to work at the ML Quezon National Highway intersection in Barangay Pajo, Lapu-Lapu City, Wednesday evening, August 30, 2023.
The Lapu-Lapu City Traffic Enforcement Unit (TEU) identified the victim as Samuel Incio Litonjua, 21, a resident of Pacific Grandi 2, B1 L9 Purok Tander in Barangay Babag.
The driver of the truck that hit Litonjua was Hilarex Ganela Dumlao, 62, resident of Timpolok in Barangay Gun-ob.
According to initial reports released by the TEU on Thursday, August 31, the victim was heading to work as a passenger on a motorcycle when the truck driven by Dumlao accidentally hit its back portion.
The impact threw the driver off the motorcycle and onto the side of the road while Litonjua went under the truck’s wheels and was run over by them.
Litonjua was reportedly rushed to the nearby hospital but was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician, while his driver sustained only minor scratches.
Meanwhile, the truck driver was detained at the Lapu-Lapu City Police Office in Hoops Dome in Barangay Gun-ob and will face charges of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide.
