IGACOS City Hall Closed for Disinfection

THE Island Garden City of Samal (IGACOS) has announced the suspension of work at the New City Hall building and all local government offices, including satellite workstations and facilities in the Babak, Peñaplata, and Kaputian Districts, for disinfection.

“Regular work and office hours are hereby suspended on May 9, 2025, from noon onwards in the New City Hall building, including all local government offices, satellite workstations, and buildings in Babak, Peñaplata, and Kaputian Districts for disinfection,” the Samal Island Information Office said in a Facebook post on May 8.

Despite the suspension, essential services—such as those related to security, disaster preparedness, emergency response, and other critical field operations—will continue to function as usual.

The office also noted that Samal Island City College may shift to an asynchronous class schedule if the disinfection disrupts major academic activities.

Regular office operations and services are expected to resume on May 13, 2025.

As of press time, SunStar Davao has attempted to contact several local government offices for further clarification regarding the sudden and unannounced disinfection but has received no official explanation. RGP
