A 40-YEAR-OLD man was arrested through a warrant arrest for selling illegal firearms in Sitio Lawis, Barangay North Población, San Fernando, Cebu.
Members of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG)-Cebu Provincial Field Unit raided the house of Albert Villafuerte Tan at 7:43 p.m. on Wednesday, April 16, 2025. The raid ended at 10:30 p.m.
Judge Joy Redoble of RTC Branch 77 in Carcar City issued a search warrant against Tan dated April 8, 2025, for violation of Section 3, Paragraph 5 in relation to Section 28, Paragraph A of Republic Act 10591.
During the serving of the search warrant, CIDG personnel led by Police Lieutenant Colonel Randy Korret seized one Colt .45 pistol, including seven steel magazines and corresponding ammunition, one 9mm submachine gun (ingram) with three magazines, 30 rounds of 9mm ammunition, and one 9mm Colt pistol with 12 rounds of ammunition and its magazines.
The seized evidence was submitted to the CIDG-Cebu Provincial Field Unit, while the search warrant was returned to the issuing court, and charges are being prepared to be filed against the suspect.
Based on the information gathered, the suspect, was allegedly selling firearms to customers without government authorization. This prompted the CIDG to apply for a search warrant from the court.
The operation was part of the CIDG’s flagship program “Oplan Paglalansag Omega,” which targets individuals involved in the proliferation and possession of illegal firearms. (𝗔𝗬𝗕)
