The Philippine National Police (PNP) will be on full alert starting Saturday, May 3, in preparation for the security of the 2025 midterm elections.
“We’re 100%. We are in full alert starting tomorrow,” PNP chief Police General Rommel Marbil said in an ambush interview.
“Ang mga tao po namin nasa ground na po. Yung mga taong tutulong po sa election that will be manning the election nandoon na po sa BARMM. Eighty percent po nandoon na lahat kasi yun po yung needed dyan but right now we’re 100%. Nandito na po yung pulis natin,” he added.
(Our people are on the ground now. The people who will be manning the election are already in BARMM. Eighty percent are already there because that’s what’s needed, but right now we’re 100%. Our police are here now.)
The number of validated election-related incidents (ERIs) increased to 35, the PNP said.
In an update as of April 28, the PNP said most of the validated ERIs were in the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) with 11, followed by the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao with eight and Calabarzon with five.
Three validated ERIs were reported in Zamboanga Peninsula, two each in Western Visayas and Davao Region. Meanwhile, one each in Ilocos Region, Central Luzon, Eastern Visayas, and Soccsksargen.
The PNP is still validating seven suspected ERIs in Cagayan Valley, Bicol, Soccsksargen, CAR, and Metro Manila.
