PNP arrests 22,649 ‘most wanted’ in first quarter

The Philippine National Police arrested over 22,000 of the country’s most wanted persons in the first quarter of the year, according to a report released by the PNP over the weekend.

The PNP said it arrested a total of 22,649 individuals wanted for murder, rape, robbery, and other heinous crimes from January 1 to April 21, 2023, as reported by Luisito Santos on GMA Super Radyo DZBB.

PNP Chief Major General Benjamin Acorda Jr. attributed the development to the agency’s community policing program, which involves partnerships with communities to enforce the law and minimize crime.

Acorda said that the PNP would continue with its reinforced operations against criminality, along with its coordination with other law enforcement agencies and communities across the country. — DVM, GMA Integrated News
