Philippines logs 403 new COVID-19 cases

The Department of Health on Sunday logged 403 new COVID-19 infections, bringing the country’s total number of coronavirus cases to 4,168,009.

This is the 10th straight day of fewer than 500 new cases, according to GMA Integrated News Research. The tally of active cases, meanwhile, increased by 53 to 6,606, for the ninth straight day of more than 6,000 active cases.

Total recoveries increased by 350 to 4,094,919, while recorded deaths are still at 66,484 for the 11th straight day.

The region with the most new COVID-19 cases in the last 14 days is Metro Manila with 1,128 cases, followed by Central Luzon with 779; Calabarzon with 624; Western Visayas with 436; and Ilocos Region with 397.

Among cities and provinces, Quezon City had the most new COVID-19 cases in the last 14 days with 287, followed by Cavite province with 195; Iloilo province with 191; Bulacan province with 174; and Cagayan province with 167.

COVID-19 bed occupancy is at 17%, with 4,131 occupied and 20,178 vacant. Of the occupied beds, 2,423 are ICU beds.

The DOH also reported on Sunday that 1,382 new cases of Omicron subvariants were detected in the period from June 26 to June 29. — BM, GMA Integrated News
