The Department of Health logged 2,109 new COVID-19 cases on Sunday, bringing the Philippines’ total cases to date to 4,115,202.
According to GMA Integrated News Research, it is the third straight day that more than 2,000 new cases reported. With active cases rising by 364 to 15,891, it is also the third straight day that more than 15,000 active cases are being monitored.
The DOH’s COVID-19 tracker also shows that recoveries rose by 1,745 to 4,032,858—the fifth straight day of fewer recoveries than new cases—while the confirmed death toll remains at 66,453.
The region with the most new cases in the last 14 days is Metro Manila with 9,207, followed by Calabarzon with 4,911; Central Luzon with 1,580; Western Visayas with 1,121; and the Bicol Region with 762.
Among cities and provinces, Quezon City had the most new COVID-19 cases in the last 14 days with 2,154, followed by Rizal province with 1,572; Cavite province with 1,559; City of Manila with 1,040; and Laguna province with 1,020.
COVID-19 bed occupancy is at 20.0%, with 5,051 occupied (including 2,549 ICU beds) and 20,161 vacant.
In a tweet on Sunday, Dr. Guido David of independent monitoring firm OCTA Research reported a nationwide positivity rate of 23.4%, down slightly from 23.6% on Saturday. — BM, GMA Integrated News
