Marcos: Gov’t will not impose fishing ban

President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. on Saturday clarified that the government will not impose a fishing ban and that his previous comment was on the possible restriction in breeding areas.

“Hindi maganda ang pagkapaliwanag ko. Hindi fishing ban ang pinag-usapan ko,” Marcos said in a media interview during a rice distribution in Iriga City, Camarines Sur.

Marcos recently emphasized the need to address overfishing and boost the country’s fish population and aquaculture in the country.

The President added that any move should not impede on the livelihood of fisherfolk.

—Jiselle Casucian/ VAL, GMA Integrated News
