Eleksyon 2025 candidates endorse other bets, discuss survey rankings

Senatorial candidate Noberto Gonzales on Sunday proposed a parliamentary government, saying it would fight corruption in the country.

“Dahil ang pagkakaalam ko pag parliamentary system, lumalabas ang kagalingan ng bawat pamumuno; baka sakali na kagalingan na ang batayan ng pamumuno dito sa atin hindi na po ang pera,” Gonzales said in a video posted on his Facebook page.

(Because I know that in a parliamentary system, the excellence of each leadership manifests. Maybe it’s because the basis of leadership there is not money, but virtue.)

“Kung gusto natin magkaroon ng matitinong leader sa lipunan natin. Palagay ko pati yung systema ng pagpapatakbo ng gobeyerno dapat baguhin na din,” he added.

(If we want to have a sensible leader in our society, I think the system running the government should be changed.)

In a parliamentary government, the legislative branch holds the most power, and the head of the government is chosen by the parliament, unlike in a democratic country like Philippines, the people vote for the government officials.

Gonzales also went to Cotabato City to campaign.

Endorsements

Senatorial candidate Abby Binay was endorsed by some Sarangani local officials during a meet and greet event of local and barangay officials in General Santos City on Sunday.

Binay said she would push for salaries for barangay captains, giving free maintenance medicines, especially to senior citizens, and improving the education system and take-home pay among workers.

Mayoral candidate Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso backed senatorial candidate Manny Pacquiao during their campaign in Baseco and Sta. Ana, Manila on Saturday.

“Pareho kaming galing sa hirap. Hindi nakakalimot si Manny sa kanyang pinanggalingan, kaya karapat-dapat siyang bumalik sa Senado,” Domagoso said.

(We both came from poverty. Manny will not forget where he came from, so he deserves to return to the Senate.)

Thanking Domagoso for his endorsement, Pacquiao vowed to push for laws that will uplift the poor and ensure inclusivity among Filipinos.

“Ang laban ng mahirap ay laban nating lahat, Maraming salamat sa tiwala, Mayor Isko. Sama-sama tayong magtutulungan para sa bagong pag-asa ng bayan,” Pacquiao said.

(This is our fight. Thank you for trusting me, Mayor Isko. Let’s work together for the new hope of the nation.)

“Hindi pwedeng iwanan ang mahihirap sa biyahe ng pag-unlad. ‘Dyan natin kasama mga naniniwala sa akin. Kung magkaisa tayo, kaya nating itaguyod ang isang gobyernong tunay na para sa masa, makatao, makatarungan, at makabansa,” he added.

(The poor cannot be left behind in achieving development. We included those who believe in me. If we unite, we can promote a government that is truly for the masses, humane, just, and patriotic.)

During his campaign in Nasugbo, Batangas, independent senatorial candidate Ben Tulfo endorsed his brother, Erwin Tulfo.

“Pero dahil mahal ko ang kapatid ko, independente ako, gusto ko rin sa ibaba number 62 is number 63, isama niyo na rin. Kapataid ko yan eh Iisa lang ang dugong dumadaloy sa amin,” Ben Tulfo said in video posted on Sunday.

(Because I love my brother, I hope you also vote for him as you would vote for me. He is my brother; we have the same blood running in our veins.)

Binay, Pacquiao, and Ben Tulfo belong to the 11-man Alyansa Para sa Bagong Pilipinas endorsed by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.

Meanwhile, independent candidate Willie Revillame attended the Saulog Tagbilaran 2025 festival in Tagbilaran City.

He also handed out jackets while singing during his campaign in Siquijor.

Rankings rise

In a statement on Sunday, senatorial candidate Bam Aquino attributed his ranking in senatorial surveys to his campaign volunteers

“Tuwang-tuwa kami sa balitang iyan. Nagsimula kami last year, ang baba namin. Pero sa sipag, tiyaga at sa pagkayod, pag-ikot sa buong Pilipinas, pakikipag-usap sa mga kababayan natin, pumapasok na sa Top 12,” he said.

(We welcome the news. We started last year at the bottom. But through the hard work and perseverance of campaigning across the Philippines, talking to our countrymen, we are included in the Top 12.)

Despite this, Aquino said he and his team will double their efforts in going to different areas in the country in the remaining two weeks of campaigning.

“Itong huling dalawang linggo, tuluy-tuloy lang kami sa pagsisipag pa, pagpapakilala pa at pagkuwento ng mga nais naming gawin para sa bayan,” he said.

(In this last two weeks, we will continue to persevere in introducing ourselves and delivering what we want to our country.)

In the OCTA Research March senatorial survey, Aquino ranked 12th-18th.

If given a Senate seat, Aquino would push for free college education and enough funds for the Libreng Pabaon Program and ensure a livelihood for every Filipino. — Mariel Celine Serquiña/BM, GMA Integrated News
