69% of Filipinos support impeachment trial vs VP Sara Duterte —OCTA survey

Majority of Filipinos support the impeachment trial against Vice President Sara Duterte, according to the OCTA Research’s latest Tugon ng Masa (TNM) survey released on Wednesday.

Conducted from March 19 to 25, the survey found that 69% of adult Filipinos believe Duterte should face an impeachment trial to address allegations against her, while 28% disagree and 3% are undecided. 

Visayas showed the highest support for Duterte’s impeachment trial at 83%, followed by the National Capital Region at 81% and the rest of Luzon (Balance Luzon) at 69%.

Mindanao showed the lowest support at 61% and the highest opposition to Duterte’s impeachment trial at 38%.

Across socioeconomic groups, majority supported Duterte’s impeachment trial in all classes but it was lowest among Class E at 54%. 

By age group, support for Duterte’s impeachment trial was strongest among younger Filipinos aged 18 to 24 at 77%, followed by those aged 35 to 44 at 73%. 

However, lower support was observed among those aged 45 to 54 at 60%.

The survey also found that support for Duterte’s impeachment trial is higher in rural areas with 75% than in urban areas with 63%.

Female respondents at 70% were slightly more supportive of having an impeachment trial than males at 68%.

Meanwhile, 87% of respondents said they were aware of the impeachment case filed against Duterte.

Twelve percent on the other hand, said there were not aware, and 1% were undecided.

The non-commissioned survey had 1,200 respondents aged 18 and above polled via face-to-face interviews, according to OCTA. 

The poll has a ±3% margin of error at a 95% confidence level, with the following subnational estimates of margin of error at a 95% confidence level: ±6% for Metro Manila, Balance Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao, OCTA said. —KG, GMA News
