Low Pressure Area spotted east of Mindanao
Mindanao will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated thunderstorms after a Low Pressure Area (LPA) was spotted 985 kilometers east of Southeastern Mindanao, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical Astronomical Services administration (PAGASA) said.
In its 5:15 p.m. weather bulletin, PAGASA said moderate rains with occasional heavy rains will dump 4.5 liters to 7.5 liters of water in San Luis, La Paz, and Loreto in Agusan del Sur; and in Lantapan, Malaybalay City, Cabanglasan, and Valencia City in Bukidnon.
Light to moderate rains (2.5 to 5.5 liters) will also be experienced in Prosperidad, Agusan del Sur; Norala and Tantangan in South Cotabato; and San Miguel in Surigao del Sur.
590 Camiguin farmers affected by African Swine Fever outbreak get help
The Department of Agriculture Region 10 has assisted 590 farmers in Camiguin Island who were heavily affected by the recent African Swine Fever outbreak.
DA-10 Regional Executive Director Apollo Pacamalan said 843 swines and 1,571 feed bags were given to the farmers under their Initiative for Recovery and Expansion-Sentinel Program.
Pacamalan said they hope that the assistance will allow swine farmers in Camiguin to recover their losses.
Pia Wurtzbach helps raise awareness about HIV/AIDS
Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach visited Davao City recently as the brand ambassadress of LoveYourselfPH, a group raising awareness on HIV/AIDS (Human Immunodeficiency Virus/Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome).
Wurtzbach inaugurated the new center of LoveYourselfPH, which provides free HIV testing, counseling, treatment and life coaching.
While she was in Davao City, Wurtzbach went around talking to residents about HIV/AIDS.
