The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) is set to revitalize traditional salt production in Alubijid, Misamis Oriental, by introducing modern innovative technologies. According to Virgilio Fuertes, DOST-10 assistant regional director, the agency’s cooking and evaporation technology will enable salt production without reliance on sunlight, potentially tripling the output of local farmers. Meanwhile, four Chinese nationals were apprehended in M’lang, North Cotabato, for working without permits at a mosquito coil manufacturing plant. A joint task force, including the Bureau of Immigration and the Philippine Army, arrested the individuals, who did not resist. Additionally, the Philippine Army has recommended upgrading the threat classifications of three towns in Lanao del Sur—Taraka, Sultan Dumalondong, and Lumbayanague—ahead of the elections due to histories of violence and political rivalries. The Commission on Elections has already classified 18 of the province’s 39 towns, including Marawi City, as “areas of grave concern” due to past election-related incidents.
