CAMP ALAGAR, Cagayan de Oro City – Police Regional Office 10 (PRO10) successfully confiscated approximately PhP15,240,000.00 worth of alleged smuggled cigarettes in an operation conducted along the seashore of Brgy. Piraka, Sultan Naga Dimaporo, Lanao del Norte on March 26, 2025.
At around 5:00 PM, personnel from Sultan Naga Dimaporo Municipal Police Station, the 2nd PMFC LDN PPO, 1005th MC, RMFB 10, and PIU LDN PPO, in coordination with the Bureau of Customs (BOC) in Iligan City, conducted an operation following information from a confidential informant regarding the presence of smuggled cigarettes in the aforementioned place.
Upon arrival at the location, the authorities discovered a large stash of smuggled cigarettes inside an uninhabited house. The discovery was made inadvertently as the window of the house was slightly open, revealing the contraband.
Confiscated during the operation were 190 boxes of New Aris (red) and 191 boxes of King Perfect smuggled cigarettes with an estimated total value of PhP15,240,000.00.
Accordingly, the owner of the contraband was identified as alias “Al”, a resident of Zamboanga del Sur, alongside two other persons of interest, identified as alias “Boss” and “Bayan”, both residents of Brgy. Piraka, Sultan Naga Dimaporo, Lanao del Norte.
All confiscated items were brought to SND MPS for proper documentation and will be turned over to the Bureau of Customs for appropriate disposition.
PBGEN JAYSEN C DE GUZMAN, Regional Director, PRO10, lauded the operating units for their successful operation.
“This operation underscores the unwavering commitment of PRO10 in combating illicit trade across the region. We will continue to intensify our intelligence-driven operations and work closely with other agencies and the community to ensure that those involved in these illegal activities are held accountable,” he said.
He further emphasized the importance of community cooperation, urging the public to report any suspicious activities to the authorities.
