THE Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) issued a weather advisory on June 6, 2025, warning that Mindanao and parts of the Davao Region will experience rains due to the trough of a low-pressure area (LPA) located 945 kilometers east of Eastern Visayas. The LPA is expected to bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms across Bicol, Visayas, and Mindanao. PAGASA cautions that moderate to heavy rainfall may lead to flash floods and landslides, particularly in vulnerable areas. Meanwhile, the southwest monsoon (habagat) continues to affect other parts of the country, with Regions including Metro Manila, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Western Visayas, Negros Island Region, Zamboanga Peninsula, Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (Barmm), and Soccsksargen expecting cloudy skies with scattered showers and thunderstorms, with similar risks of flooding and landslides. Elsewhere in Luzon, particularly its eastern section, isolated rain showers and thunderstorms are expected due to the ongoing habagat, although generally less intense, severe thunderstorms may still cause localized flooding or landslides. Wind conditions across the country will remain light to moderate, with Eastern sections of Southern Luzon and the Visayas experiencing winds coming from the northeast to northwest, while the rest of Luzon can expect winds from the southwest to south, and winds over the remainder of the country blowing from the southwest to the west. Coastal waters nationwide are forecast to be slight to moderate in condition. Pagasa continues to closely monitor the LPA for any signs of development into a tropical cyclone and advises the public to stay updated through official weather bulletins.
