Dabawenyos’ 2025 Voting Patterns for Leadership

Davao City elected lawyers, business owners, healthcare workers, and career government employees during the 2025 midterm elections. The lineup includes eight lawyers, six business owners, five healthcare workers, four government employees, two broadcasters, a certified public accountant, a development banker, an educator, and an engineer. Most winners were incumbent councilors, with 16 seeking reelection. First district councilors included Bonz Militar, Cookie Bonguyan, Luna Acosta, Pameng Librado, and Tek Ocampo. Second district councilors were Al Ryan Alejandre, Che Che Justol, Danny Dayanghirang, Diosado Mahipus Jr., and Louie John Bonguyan. Third district councilors included Alberto Ungab, Enzo Villafuerte, Myrna Dalodo Ortiz, Petite Principe, Trisha Ann Villafuerte, and Sweet Advincula. Three newly elected officials were chiefs of staff of former councilors, while others included former government employees, congressional representatives, and a labor official. Two elected officials were incumbent House representatives, and two were barangay captains. Davao City also elected a former businessman, government official, labor attaché, mayor, and vice mayor. Former President Rodrigo Duterte, who faced allegations at The Hague, was elected mayor. Some elected officials had no prior experience, while three were chiefs of staff for their fathers. The elected officials’ previous roles included barangay captains, chiefs of staff, House representatives, government officials, a former mayor, and a former vice mayor. The Duterte family dominated, with three in local government and two in Congress. The average age of elected officials was 47, ranging from 27 to 80, with 20 males and 9 females. The youngest female official was Luna Acosta, 33, and the oldest was Myrna Dalodo Ortiz, 64.
