Bountiful Harvest: 27 Mindanao Literary Works

The year 2025 saw the publication of at least 27 Mindanao books, with 20 of them published locally, covering diverse topics such as the Bangsamoro peace process, Sama Banguingi culture, women in peace and security, literature, exorcism, integral ecology, and the legacy of a Marine brigade. These books include contributions from Mindanawons and non-Mindanawons alike. Among the publishers, Maven Media Asia in Zamboanga City released eight titles, while universities, independent publishers, and institutes in Mindanao also contributed significantly. Notable works include Daylight Dreams of Water by Jennae Jereza, published by Ateneo de Davao University, and Imperfect Leadership by Fr. Antonio Moreno, SJ, published by Xavier University Press. Other significant publications include The Bangsamoro Transition Authority by David J. Timberman and Yasmina Moner, and Deeper Ground, Darker Shadows, the memoir of Eddie L. Quitoriano. Additionally, zines like Liham Mula sa Selda by persons deprived of liberty in Koronadal City highlight grassroots literary efforts. The UP Press also marked its 60th year by reprinting seminal works and publishing new titles, including Hanaw by Ana Margarita R. Nuñez.
