The midterm elections revealed a colorful political landscape in the Philippines. Bong Go dominated Mindanao, turning the region green, while Bam Aquino painted Luzon pink by topping most provinces. Imee Marcos maintained her stronghold in the Ilocos Region, solidifying the North. Mindanao’s support for Bong Go, a close ally of the Duterte family, highlighted the region’s loyalty. Bong Go is also establishing a dynasty, with his son winning as vice mayor and his cousin as a board member in Davao Oriental. The top three Senate winners—Bong, Bam, and Bato—reflect a focus on health, education, and comic relief. BBM’s party secured five Senate seats, while Sara’s picks claimed five, and the Pink movement landed two. Sara’s call for a “bloodbath” in impeachment proceedings signals intense political battles. BBM’s decision to call for cabinet resignations shocked the public, revealing his cabinet’s existence and accomplishments. In Davao City, the Duterte family’s dominance is evident, with five Dutertes elected into office, including Tatay Digong, who serves as mayor while detained in the ICC. Pulong, Baste, and other family members continue to expand their political influence, with eight Dutertes now in public office. For Dabawenyos, this is seen as destiny, while others view it as a burgeoning dynasty. (Mind Da Noise is a column by jaded Mindanawon observers.)
