UP Diliman, Manila campuses get bomb threats

Bomb threats were reportedly made against the Diliman and Manila campuses of the University of the Philippines (UP), according to police Thursday.

In UP Manila, the Manila Police District (MPD) said a programmer at the UP Philippine General Hospital (PGH) received a message around 9 a.m. on Thursday from “t******[email protected].”

The message read:

“Ang lugar na ito ay pugad ng NPA sa Maynila. [Aksaya] sa pondo ng bayan. Mga batang puro ngawa ang ambag sa lipunan. Pinapaaral ngayon para lang maging traydor sa gobyerno kinabukasan!”

(This place is a den of the New People’s Army in Manila. A waste of the people’s funds. These kids are just crybabies who contribute nothing to society. They are being educated today just to become traitors to the government tomorrow!”

“Ngayong araw sasabog…ang mensahe ng mga tunay na Pilipino. Walang lugar sa bayang ito ang terorista!!! Dapat pinupuksa ang terorismo!!!”

(Today, there will be an explosion…of the message of true Filipinos. Terrorists have no place in this country! Terrorism must be eradicated!)

Authorities responded and conducted panelling in the vicinity of UP PGH.

During the inspection around 12 noon, police said a doctor received a message via Telegram: “Nakapasok na pasabog sa loob ng PGH.” (An explosive device has been placed inside the PGH.)

Around 1:30 p.m., authorities declared the area negative from any hazardous and explosive materials.

Meanwhile, UP Diliman also received a bomb threat on Wednesday, the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) said Thursday.
