The Philippine Reclamation Authority (PRA) has directed the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) to submit an inventory of projects in Laguna de Bay that have reclamation components.
According to a “24 Oras” report by Sandra Aguinaldo, the agency also wants to find out who authorized the reclamation in the controversial project on the Taguig City side of Laguna Lake, which is being questioned by Senator Panfilo Lacson.
DPWH Secretary Vince Dizon said there will be a meeting of stakeholders, including the local government of Taguig, Laguna Lake Development Authority, and PRA.
“Let’s discuss it: what the real problem is,” Dizon said.
Earlier, Lacson flagged the allegedly illegal reclamation project in Taguig, which he said has so far reached P3.71 billion.
The senator said he would submit additional evidence to the Office of the Ombudsman to look into the matter.
The LLDA had said the Taguig City government did not coordinate with them on the said projects.
On August 30, the DPWH issued a cease-and-desist order on the project.
GMA News has sought the reaction of the Taguig local government on the issue. Meanwhile, Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano, husband of Taguig Mayor Lani Cayetano, said in a social media post that the lakeshore project is full of potential to transform the area into a hub for learning, health and leisure activities, and events.
He also said that any investigation into the project “must be a search for truth, not a political vendetta.”
