A Transportation Network Vehicle Service (TNVS) driver was shot dead by his passenger while inside the vehicle in Caloocan, according to Mariz Umali’s report on “Saksi.”
A police officer booked the TNVS driver for the suspect, who did not know his way home to Bulacan.
The dashcam video of the vehicle of TNVS driver Eric Robert Soco showed him and the suspect conversing then this escalated to a heated exchange. The suspect then shot the driver.
The police said the incident occurred 3 a.m. on Sunday in Bagong Silang, Caloocan City.
The suspect was arrested in his house in Bulacan while the motive for the shooting is still being investigated.
The Caloocan police said they have yet to determine what triggered the argument between the driver and his passenger.
The police also said the suspect had asked for assistance from local watchmen of Barangay 188 in Caloocan because he was searching for his wife.
The suspect, the barangay officials said, is not from Caloocan and was only new to the place.
He was then brought to the Tala Police substation. And because he wanted to go home, a police officer booked a TNVS to bring the suspect to a given address in Bulacan.
The suspect declined to issue a statement. He underwent an inquest at the Caloocan city Prosecutor’s Office and is facing a murder charge, violation of Republic Act No. 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
Meanwhile, the police officer who booked the TNVS is put under administrative relief while the investigation is ongoing to find out if there are shortcomings in the process and if protocol needs to be changed in relation to similar cases. — BAP, GMA News
