MRT-3 offers free rides on Independence Day

Free rides will be given to passengers in Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT-3) on June 12 in celebration of the 127th Independence Day.

In a statement, MRT-3 said the free rides will be available from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. in all of the train stations.

“Ito ay alinsunod sa utos ni Pangulong Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. na maghandog ng mga inisyatibong naglalayong mapagaan ang gastusin sa transportasyon at mapalaganap ang pagpapahalaga sa mahahalagang pambansang okasyon,” MRT-3 said.

(This is in accordance with the directive of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. to offer initiatives aimed at easing transportation costs and promoting appreciation for important national occasions.)

Aside from MRT-3, the Light Rail Transit 2 (LRT-2) will also offer free rides on June 12. The free ride will be from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. in all LRT-2 stations.

The Philippines’ independence from Spain was declared on June 12, 1898, with the unveiling of the Philippine flag at the house of Emilio Aguinaldo in Kawit, Cavite. —VAL, GMA Integrated News
