President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. on Saturday led the launch of the Student Beep Cards, which automatically give students half-priced fares on Metro Manila’s railway systems.
Marcos led the ceremonial launch of the white-colored Beep cards for students at the Legarda Station of the Light Rail Transit Line 2 (LRT-2).
The Beep cards automatically grant a 50% discount to student passengers taking the LRT-1, LRT-2, and MRT-3.
“We’re very happy to be able to launch this new system to give the beep cards to our students,” Marcos said.
The launch of the student Beep cards is part of the administration’s move to make commuting more affordable and convenient.
On-the-spot printing will also now be offered for student beep cards as well as the white beep cards for senior citizens and persons with disabilities (PWDs).
From 7 a.m. to 10 a.m., the said cards will only take a few minutes to produce for students, seniors and PWDs, according to the Department of Transportation. —VAL, GMA Integrated News
