Man nabbed for killing own mother; victim found in box in Bulacan

A 67-year-old woman who was reported missing in Pasig has been found dead inside a box in Bulacan.

According to Dano Tingcungco’s report on “24 Oras”, Maria Estrella-Villaestique had been missing for six days before her body was found in a grassy area in Baragay Matictic in Norzagaray town.

Her son Raymund, 28, has owned up to killing his mother, saying he repeatedly hit the victim with a piece of wood.

The National Bureau of Investigation has placed the suspect under arrest. He is facing a complaint for parricide.

Villaestique’s body was covered in a plastic bag, a gift wrapper, and two blankets.

Her remains were positively identified on Sunday evening. Autopsy showed she succumbed to blunt traumatic injury on her head.

Witnesses’ accounts and CCTV footage indicated that Raymund was seen dragging a big box before reportedly going into hiding for a week.

He admitted hitting his mother amid an argument on March 5 and identified the location where he discarded the victim’s remains.

The suspect said his relationship with his mother deteriorated after he lost to a scam their car, which was used for a transport network vehicle service. —Sundy Locus/NB, GMA Integrated News
