The Light Rail Transit-Line 1 (LRT 1) resumed full operations on Friday evening following a temporary suspension due to electrical problems that affected its railway systems.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), the Light Rail Manila Corporation (LRMC) said that as of 6:45 p.m., full operations were restored from its Baclaran to Fernando Poe Jr. (formerly Roosevelt) stations and vice versa.
The LRMC update came nearly an hour after LRT-1 announced that a “stop for safety” was put in place.
The company later said that LRT-1 operations were “temporarily suspended” after three power substations located between the Pedro Gil Station and Blumentritt stations “experienced electrical fault,” affecting operations of the LRT-1 line.
The electrical fault was recorded at 5:48 p.m.
GMA News’ Ian Cruz posted a video clip on X showing long queues of stranded passengers at the United Nations station in Manila City.
Cruz later reported that after almost an hour of service interruption, LRT-1 operations were back to normal from Baclaran to the Fernando Poe Jr. station. — with a report from Sherilyn Untalan/ VDV, GMA Integrated News
