Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna on Thursday formalized her reelection bid as she filed her certificate of candidacy (COC) for the 2025 midterm elections in a satellite Commission on Elections (Comelec) office.
Lacuna is running under the local party Asenso Manileño, along with incumbent Manila Vice Mayor Marvin “Yul Servo” Nieto.
In a campaign rally at the Kartilya ng Katipunan, Lacuna thanked their supporters for not “betraying” them.
“Sa lahat ng hindi nag-taksil, maraming maraming salamat po sa inyo. Mananalo po tayo. Itaga niyo lang sa bato — hinding hindi kami matitinag at hinding hindi namin kayo iiwan,” she said.
(To all those who did not betray us, thank you very much. We will win. Rest assured, we will never fall down and we will never leave you.)
Meanwhile, Nieto vowed to “fight fairly” in the upcoming elections as he and Lacuna seek a second term in office.
“Makakaasa kayo mga Batang Manileño, ang tambalang Honey-Yul ay maglilingkod lang nang may kalinga at magpapamalas ng disiplina, at lalaban nang patas at may respeto,” he said.
(I assure Batang Manileños that the Honey-Yul duo will only serve with care, show discipline, and fight fairly and with respect.) —KBK, GMA Integrated News
