Frozen food products seized in raids on warehouses in Navotas

Frozen food products without the required sanitary clearance were seized after authorities raided seven warehouses in Navotas City on Friday night.

They are also suspected to have been smuggled into the country.

According to Jamie Santos’ report on “Saksi”, the raids were conducted after the authorities received information that cold storage facilities were being operated in the area without permits.

The operation was conducted by personnel from the Department of Agriculture, the Bureau of Customs, the Intelligence Service of the Armed Forces of the Philippines, and the Philippine Coast Guard.

“Karamihan ng meat products na nakita natin dito walang sanitary sanitary clearance tong mga ito and at the same time we believe smuggled lahat ito,” Agriculture Assistant Secretary James Layug said.

“Dadaan sa forfeiture proceedings then pag na forfeit iko-condemn sisirain natin tong mga to,” he added.

The goods in the facilities included pork, poultry, and fish such as pompano. —NB, GMA Integrated News
