Cop, brother nabbed for alleged fake operation, extortion

Police authorities arrested their fellow cop and his brother for allegedly conducting an unauthorized operation to extort money.

According to a “24 Oras” report by Mark Salazar, the suspects — Staff Sergeant Lordgin Antonino and Nelson Antonino Jr. — used fake identification cards of the Philippine National Police during their modus in a hotel in Pasay City where they arrested a Chinese national.

The Pasay police immediately conducted a operation after receiving information on the suspects’ activities.

Defending his action, Antonino said he was at the scene after responding to a tip about an illegal activity inside the hotel.  However, he reportedly failed to explain why he was using a fake ID and why his brother was with him.

The suspects will face charges after undergoing inquest proceedings.—LDF, GMA Integrated News
