‘Bagong Baclaran Market’ to be built in Pasay

Bagong Baclaran Market is set to be built in Pasay City with the partnership of some agencies and local government units (LGUs), the Philippine Reclamation Authority (PRA) said on Wednesday.

“Dito po sa Bagong Baclaran Market, hindi ko po maibigay yung eksaktong tapos nitong proyekto pero ang layunin po nito is mas magkaroon ng centralized na market ang mga kababayan natin dito sa Baclaran area dito sa Pasay,” PRA official Irwin Jacob J. Serrano said in a a Bagong Pilipinas Ngayon interview.

(I can’t give the exact date of completion but Bagong Baclaran Market’s goal is for our countrymen to have a more centralized market here in the Baclaran area here in Pasay.)

“Malapit din ito sa reclamation which is kung bakit nga rin na-involve ang PRA. Sa ngayon po nasa planning phase at magkakaroon po ng further developments,” he added.

(It is also close to a reclamation area which is why the PRA got involved. Right now it is in the planning phase and there will be further developments.)

PRA’s Aya Karlota J. Mendieta said more than 2,000 stalls will be opened in the new Baclaran market and thousands of residents are expected to benefit from this.

“Nasa mahigit 2,000 na stalls po yung itatayo doon sa Bagong baklaran market. And marami, thousands na mga residente po yung makikinabang dito nang wala pong cost sa kanila,” she said.

(There are more than 2,000 stalls that will be built in the Bagong Baclaran Market. And many, thousands of residents will benefit from this at no cost to them.)

Recently, the PRA signed an agreement with the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) as well as the city governments of Pasay and Parañaque for the project.

“This multilevel market, part of President Marcos Jr.’s ‘Bagong Pilipinas’ initiative, will house over 2,000 stalls, benefiting thousands of vendors, residents, and even visitors of the said cities. Notably, it will also become the first permanent Kadiwa Centre under this administration,” the PRA said in a Facebook post. — BM, GMA Integrated News
