7 arrested in alleged drug den near QC school

Police arrested seven persons in a buy-bust operation at an alleged drug den near a school in Quezon City.

According to Marisol Abdurahman’s report on “24 Oras”, the operatives of the Quezon City Police District Station 10 conducted the operation in Barangay Sacred Heart after receiving a tip.

“Drug den talagang maliwanag ‘yun. Bahay na under surveillance for quite a while pagkatapos ang mga tao ay sa tinitignan namin mga gumagamit lahat. Nagtest kami then sinundan ng isang buy bust na,” QCPD chief Police Brigadier General Nick Torre said.

(It is clearly a drug den. The house had been under surveillance for quite a while then the people appeared to be users. We did a test buy, and followed with a buy-bust operation.)

Police recovered 12 sachets of alleged shabu, buy-bust money, drug paraphernalia, and a cell phone.

Authorities expressed alarm since the location of the alleged drug den was just two streets away from a school.

“Kaya tuloy tuloy yung aming trabaho d’yan. Hindi natin tinatantanan. ‘Pag may nakita tayong gumagawa ng ganito, ino-operate natin agad para di na makapaminsala pa,” Torre said.

(That’s why we continue our work there. We’re persistent. When we see anyone involved in something like this, we immediately conduct an operation to prevent further harm.)

The suspects face complaints for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act.

They, however, denied the allegations.

“Hindi ko naman po kilala itong mga kasama ko, eh. Hindi po kami magkakakilala. Sinama na lang nila ako dito,” a suspect said.

(I don’t know these people with me. We don’t know each other. They just took me here.)

“Gumagawa lang ako ng motor at that time. Nabayaran lang ako para mag-service dun sa isang tao na kukuha rin dapat ng motor… Nagulat na lang ako, sinama po ako. Wala akong kaalam-alam,” another said.

(I was just fixing a motorcycle at that time. I was only paid to fix a motorcycle for someone who would buy it… I was surprised that they arrested me. I had no idea.) —Richa Noriega/NB, GMA Integrated News
