A 17-year-old suspect was arrested in Antipolo, Rizal for allegedly raping his six-year-old niece.
According to a “24 Oras” report by Emil Sumangil on Friday, the suspect’s sister, who is the mother of the victim, sought the help of the Philippine Army that has a detachment near their home in filing a complaint before the police.
“Itong babae [ay lumapit] sa Philippine Army na nandon sa lugar, kaya yung Philippine Army ang nagdala sa local police station para mai-file itong kaso na ito,” said PNP Rizal Provincial chief Police Major Paul Cajipe.
Initial investigation showed that the suspect was living in the same house as the victim.
He is currently under the custody of the Social Welfare Office.
Meanwhile, a suspect was also arrested in Barangay Bagong Barrio, Caloocan for allegedly raping his 11-year-old stepdaughter in Guimaras Province.
The Northern Police said that the suspect was reported by the barangay due to suspicions about his identity.—Jiselle Anne Casucian/LDF, GMA Integrated News
