15 Valenzuela cops relieved for alleged extortion

The Valenzuela City Police Station on Thursday said 15 members of its force have been relieved for alleged extortion.

“Fifteen personnel from Valenzuela City Police Station were relieved, including two unit chiefs and 13 Police Non-Commissioned Officers (PNCOs), as part of the immediate administrative action,” it said in a statement.

“The Valenzuela City Police Station assures the public of its commitment to transparency, justice, and restoring the people’s trust in law enforcement,” it added.

According to the Valenzuela City Police, three active police investigators were arrested for extortion during an entrapment operation in Barangay Malinta on Wednesday evening.

Valenzuela City Police chief Police Colonel Nixon Cayaban expressed his firm stance against any form of misconduct within their ranks.

“We do not, and will never, tolerate any wrongdoing among our ranks. It is especially disheartening when those entrusted to uphold justice betray public trust,” he said.

“Let this serve as a stern warning—no one is above the law. I have immediately ordered a full investigation and the administrative relief of them,” he added. —Joviland Rita/RF, GMA Integrated News
