Voter Registration For BSKE Ends On May 18

Applicants may register at their local Office of the Election Officer or at designated satellite and mall registration sites.

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) reminded the public that voter registration for the upcoming barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections will end on Monday, May 18, as it urged eligible Filipinos to secure their registration.

The Comelec said applications filed on or before the final day will still undergo processing and verification, including review by the Election Registration Board (ERB).

The final ERB hearing is scheduled on June 1.

The voter registration period ran from Oct. 20, 2025 to May 18, with registration centers open Tuesday to Saturday, including holidays, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Applicants may register at their local Office of the Election Officer or at designated satellite and mall registration sites.

Under election rules, Filipino citizens who are at least 18 years old on or before election day, have been residents of the Philippines for at least one year and have lived in their voting locality for at least six months before the election are qualified to register, provided they are not otherwise disqualified by law.

Disqualified individuals include those convicted by final judgment of crimes punishable by at least one year of imprisonment (unless civil rights have been restored), those found guilty of offenses involving disloyalty to the government and persons declared mentally incapacitated by competent authority.

Comelec also reiterated the list of valid identification documents for registration, including the Philippine Identification System ID, passport, driver’s license, SSS or GSIS ID, Professional Regulation Commission ID and other government-issued identification cards. Barangay identification cards with a photo may also be accepted in certain cases.

The poll body stressed that community tax certificates and police clearances are not accepted as valid identification for voter registration.

If an applicant cannot present a valid ID, identity may be established under oath by a registered voter or qualified relative, subject to limitations set by Comelec.

Comelec also announced the temporary suspension of processing and issuance of voter’s certificates at all local Offices of the Election Officer to give way to the final day of registration. Regular operations will resume tomorrow.

However, the National Central File Division in Intramuros, Manila, will remain open to accommodate voters’ certificate requests during the same period from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
