MANILA, Philippines — A 75mm high explosive vintage bomb was discovered in Sampaloc, Manila.

Initial reports from the Manila Police District (MPD) on Tuesday said the explosive was found at 4:05 p.m. when a contractor was excavating the ground using a pickaxe at the corner of Lacson Avenue and G. Tuazon Street, at Barangay 419.

Members of the MPD’s Demolition and Explosive Control Unit were called to the scene to secure the bomb.

Authorities said an investigation is ongoing to determine the origin of the bomb.
