MEXICO, Pampanga– The Social Security System (SSS) served notices to nine delinquent employers during its Run After Contributions Evaders (RACE) Campaign on July 21, 2023.

The employers from various sectors such as trading and enterprise, security agency, gas station, convenience store, transport, and aircon services failed to remit their employees’ contributions between 2020 and 2023.

SSS Luzon Central 2 Vice President Gloria Corazon M. Andrada reiterated the importance of employers’ compliance to the SSS Law in providing social security protection to their employees. The religious remittance of their contributions will assure the employees of benefits from the SSS in times of sickness, maternity, unemployment due to involuntary separation, disability, retirement, and death.

“We want to inform these employers that they only have fifteen days to comply to avoid legal actions. On the other hand, we also recognize that the unprecedented financial and operational challenges brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic might have contributed to their non-compliance. Thus we are offering them an option to avail of our condonation program as well as flexible payment terms,” Andrada said.

During the conduct of the RACE operations, the chairperson of a transport cooperative immediately provided its company’s payroll records for evaluation to apply for the SSS installment program. SSS advised all delinquent employers to coordinate with their respective account officers to assist them in their application and facilitate putting their accounts in order.

Based on SSS Pampanga’s records, 358 employees will benefit from the collection of P2.6 million worth of past-due contributions.

As of June 2023, SSS Pampanga collected P2 million from approved condonation applications and P6.5 million from previous RACE operations from July 2022 to April 2023.

Aside from the RACE Campaign, SSS launched various programs to bring services closer to its members, pensioners and claimants. These include SSS e-Wheels, a mobile service program that provides SSS digital services closer to the communities without the need for physical branch visits. Meanwhile, the e-Center sa Barangay Program is another noteworthy initiative wherein SSS, in partnership with the barangays, shall provide safer space for its constituents where they can access their My.SSS Accounts using the barangay’s IT logistics and shall be assisted by SSS-trained barangay personnel.

“SSS wants to provide the best services possible to both members and employers. We hope to meet their needs effectively by bringing services closer to members and implementing programs that benefit the employers and members alike,” Andrada concluded.
